Cheerleaders are Evil!

Two weeks ago Lion, Toto and myself went out bar hopping on Saturday night. Lion has this cool gig being a secret shopper at bars. One of the perk is he gets to take his friends out and his company pays all expenses for the night. Nice gig. Amazing what can be consumed when someone else is picking up the tab. The next day we had practice.

Our practice is 4 hours long. We dance, we jump, we throw, we catch, we hold...it is physical. After you've spent the previos night not eating but consuming everything else possible, the next day isn't going to be pretty. Practice wasn't pretty.

Monday morning I awake to fresh feelings of "Never again partake in Saturday night activities".

Friday night bar hopping with Lion and Glinda. It's Friday night, so I don't have to worry about practice for 36 hours. Plenty of time to recover. Get home and fall asleep around 5:00am Saturday morning.

Saturday is spent recovering from Friday night. Slept a bit, but not a lot since I didn't want to mess up my sleep pattern. Ate some food, but was too lazy to take a shower and get food that would actually help my recovery. Took a little nap. Woke up feeling groggy, but knowing I couldn't go back to sleep otherwise I'd wake up at 11:00pm and not be able to sleep the remainder of the night. Called TinMan to find out what he was doing. Glinda had plans. Tota and Lion were bar hopping again. TinMan said LB (squad newbie) was working and said I should meet him out. I figured I could control how much I consumed and not repeat the previous week.

Make it out and find TinMan. Monkey is there as well. Call Scarecrow requesting his presence. Make a lap and run into Trainer Boy(newbie). End up back by TinMan and LB. Another newbie shows up. It never failed, each time a person joined our group another round of torture was purchased.

Ended up getting home around 3:30am, knowing I had practice in 10 hours.

Woke up around 10:30am, got out of bed at 11:30am. Showered and dressed, made my way to McDonalds and then on to practice. Survived better than the week before, but I think it was because I learned what not to do and how to recover from my experiences the week before.

No matter how hard I tried to stick to my guns, my co-horts broke through my defenses. The fact I had a great time and didn't put up too much of a fight is negligible.

Looking Back, Looking Forward

2004 wasn't a banner year. While there were some positive outcomes, overall 2004 is a year I never want to revisit again. Family life was fine, social life was fine, cheerleading was a great addition, work was terrible. 2004 was a year without much passion or moving forward. Cheerleading is the only thing that came out of the year as something I would miss if the entire year was wiped from my mind. There were ups and downs, but I think of cheerleading as adding more to my life than taking away. Work is a different story. I've spent a few entries detailing this year's experience. 'Nuff said.

Goals for 2005

New Job
Start and Maintain Healthy Diet
Start and Maintain Consistant Workout
Toss Hands to Extension with Dennis
Standing Back Tuck
Strengthen VC

Some are easier to achieve than others. I need the challenge.

Going to try and re-focus the blog too. It started out a place to throw out there whatever was on my mind, it transitioned into being a place to vent. While the venting needed to occur, it highlighted the darkness going on in my life. We all have dark times, but I shouldn't let it consume me. I need to balance the dark with the light. So from here on out, I'm going to do my darnedest bring more light into my life and blog.

Works sucks. Fine. Move on. Family is great. Kids are great. VC is great. Cheerleading is great. Focus on what's great, change what's wrong.

Dorothy has spoken.
